Megan Richardson and Danica Swanson became partners and took ownership of the firm in early 2020 as the prior managing partner retired. From the beginning, we knew that continuity and honoring the firm’s roots were more important than putting our own names on the letterhead. The logo we proudly display today is the original design used by one of Oregon’s first female CPAs, Barbara Branner, who, along with her husband George, founded a predecessor firm in the early 1960s.
Barbara was a pioneer in a male-dominated industry, and her strength, professionalism, and dedication to her clients laid the foundation for the values we uphold today. Her legacy remains a core part of our identity—not only in our name and logo, but in our approach to service. As a woman-owned business, we are proud to carry forward her commitment to integrity, community, and professional excellence.
Our firm is built on relationships. We are drawn to strong, long-term client partnerships rooted in trust, communication, and shared goals. Whether we're helping business owners build something lasting or supporting families planning for the future, we believe that the best results come from working closely over time. That spirit of continuity and collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

Danica began her accounting career in 1995, providing accounts receivable and payable services for local businesses. Her early exposure to the financial operations of small companies led her to earn her Licensed Tax Preparer designation in 2003. After more than a decade of hands-on tax preparation experience, she returned to school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Linfield College. She passed all four CPA exams in 2018 and was licensed by the Oregon Board of Accountancy in early 2020.
Danica joined the firm in 2015 with the primary professional goal to do quality work with integrity and to provide thoughtful, proactive advice tailored to each client’s goals. She most enjoys working for clients ready to invest in a professional relationship, who value proactive planning, accurate compliance, and long-term vision.
Danica is deeply committed to community involvement and has served as Treasurer of the Mustang-Born Scholarship Foundation since its founding. The organization provides support for post-secondary education to graduates of Milwaukie High School, Danica’s alma mater. She is also the proud mom of two sweet and funny boys who keep her grounded and laughing.

Megan started her accounting career as a seasonal worker for Hardy, Branner & Holmes, in 2005. After she graduated from PSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, she was invited to become Robert Branner’s office manager at his newly formed firm, Roberts, Branner & Bemis. This served as Megan’s motivation to obtain her designation as a Licensed Tax Preparer in 2007. After a year of designing systems for the new partnership and learning the ropes, Megan returned to school and ultimately obtained a second Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern Oregon University. Megan was Robert Branner’s mentee for the remainder of his career as he groomed her to take over the firm. In 2015, as the result of financial guidance and assistance from her mentor, Megan was able to realize a dream of purchasing her childhood home in the Columbia River Gorge from her mother with whom she lives. Megan credits every career success to her beloved mentor, Robert Branner, and is proud to carry his legacy of public service and community building through to this new incarnation of the firm.

Keven began his tax career in 2011 with a firm in Anchorage, Alaska, where he developed a passion for helping people understand and manage their tax responsibilities. In 2019, he and his wife Megan relocated to Oregon, drawn by a shared dream of starting a business and their love for the Pacific Northwest. After becoming licensed in Oregon, Keven worked briefly at another firm, but the environment wasn’t the right fit.
He joined our office initially as a temporary hire—and it quickly became clear to everyone that Keven belonged here. His analytical mindset, deep tax knowledge, and thoughtful, client-centered approach made him an ideal addition to the team. He gives the same care and attention to detail to both simple and complex returns and has a strong talent for working with small businesses and entrepreneurs, particularly when it comes to tax planning.
Keven is a Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Charlotte (SSN-766) with the U.S. submarine fleet. Outside the office, he enjoys exploring Oregon with Coral, his adventurous Alaskan Malamute, and appreciates the supportive, collaborative atmosphere he's found in our firm.

Marylee began her career in accounting after raising two sons. While living in Spokane Washington, and after her youngest son graduated from college, she returned to school and obtained her degree in professional accounting. She passed the CPA exam in Washington in 2002 before moving back with her family to Oregon in 2003. She began work at Paul Roberts, PC in 2003. When Paul Roberts, Bob Branner, and Matt Bemis formed the firm of Roberts, Branner & Bemis in 2008, she joined them. Megan Richardson and Marylee are part of the orignal team and have been with the firm from its inception as Roberts, Branner & Bemis to its current structure as BB Tax & Accounting with Danica and Megan as owners and partners. In 2009, she was granted CPA designation by the Oregon Board of Accountancy. Marlyee partially retired in 2017, knowing that the clients she worked with would be in Danica Swanson's capable hands. She now specializes in working only with clients who are dealing with estate, trust, and inheritance tax issues. Her compassion and knowledge in this area are of great help for clients going through what is often a stressful and emotional time. In her free time, Marylee enjoys reading, walking, hanging out with her husband, having family dinners with her kids and grandsons, and playing with her tiny dog, Posey.
